Hi, I’m Gillian Taylor (she/her)
I’m an Occupational Therapist and founder of The Fatigue Service.
I have experience supporting people with a wide range of physical and mental health conditions. But my interest in chronic fatigue, and the conditions which can cause it, stems from my own personal experience.
In 2014, I sustained a traumatic brain injury which left me with chronic fatigue. Like many people I now support, I had to learn new ways to manage everyday life. I still consider my energy levels carefully each day and use a range of strategies to help me achieve and enjoy the things that matter to me.
Learning how to efficiently pace, prioritise, and plan my energy has allowed me to build The Fatigue Service, through which I am delighted to be able to share my learning to support anyone living with similar challenges.
My approach is person-centred and evidence-based, drawing on current research and best practice to help people find solutions that work for them.
During my recovery, I discovered yoga as a powerful way to connect with my body and better understand its needs. I decided to train as a yoga teacher in 2018 and have since taught hatha yoga to individuals and groups, online and in person. I am happy to share yoga postures, relaxation, and meditation techniques to support your wellbeing if this is of interest.
When I am not at my desk or on my yoga mat, I like to be outside in the sunshine, or spending quality time with my husband and two young children. My daughters definitely extract the most energy from me…but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I understand how frustrating, limiting and often misunderstood chronic fatigue can be. I also know that with the right support and strategies, it is possible to regain a sense of control, balance and fulfilment.
I hope to be able to support you soon.
